Musicians play on stage, a full moon hovers above them

Experience the powerful production of Missing, the acclaimed chamber opera by Métis playwright Marie Clements and JUNO award-winning composer Brian Current. Missing gives voice, in English and Gitksan, to stories of missing and murdered Indigenous women. Set in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside and along the Highway of Tears, Missing is a poetic expression of loss and hope.

The cast features sopranos Melody Courage and Maeve Palmer, mezzo-sopranos Marion Newman, Andrea Ludwig, and Michelle Lafferty, tenor Asitha Tennekoon, and baritone Evan Korbut. Music Director Timothy Long leads the production, with Digital Set Design by Andy Moro and music performed by Continuum Ensemble. The production is led by Artists of the Opera Missing (ATOM), a collective of Indigenous and settler artists who have remained committed to sharing the opera since its premiere.

Presented FREE of charge, this performance reflects The Isabel’s commitment to accessibility and to creating space for important Indigenous stories to be shared, heard, and experienced by our community.

“extraordinarily moving and thought-provoking … a landmark for the opera world.”
