Convocation ceremonies represent a celebratory ‘rite of passage’ for our students – an opportunity to share academic accomplishments with their mentors, fellow graduates, and loved ones.
Do you have questions about your eligibility to graduate and want confirmation that you have all the courses you need to graduate? The first thing you can do is run a report in SOLUS that will tell you if all your requirements have been satisfied. Under the “other academics” drop-down menu, select Academic Requirements and >> (Go). If you still have questions, take your report to your Department(s), because all students are assessed and approved by their Department(s) to determine their eligibility to graduate.
To graduate, students must have a minimum GPA on all courses taken at Queen’s (cumulative GPA), as follows:
|Cumulative GPA||Degree Eligibility|
|1.60 or above||3-year degree:|
B.A., B.Sc., B.Cmp., B.F.A., B.P.H.E.
|1.90 or above||4-year Honours degree:|
B.A.(Hons.), B.Sc.(Hons.), B.Cmp.(Hons.), B.F.A(Hons.), B.P.H.E.(Hons.), B.Mus.
Specific course requirements for all these degrees remain unchanged.
Students apply to graduate using the "Apply to Graduate" tab available in SOLUS. This will allow you to check your degree eligibility and view graduation dates and details.
Honour students are assessed by their department(s) to determine their eligibility to graduate. The Faculty Office assesses the three year general degrees and minor degrees.
An issue has been identified that may have affected the saving of your application in SOLUS. The current version of SOLUS only supports certain web browsers. For example, it does not support Google Chrome. Therefore, if you have applied to graduate using Google Chrome, the application may or may not have been saved correctly.
Once you have verified that your application has been saved, please continue to check ‘Maintain Convocation Details’ for:
If you have applied and your application is not in SOLUS, please try again using a supported web browser. For a list of supported web browsers, please visit our website at: http://www.queensu.ca/registrar/OURInfoCentre.html. If, after you’ve reapplied and checked ‘Maintain Convocation Details’, you are still having problems, please contact the Graduation Staff immediately at email@example.com and they will be happy to help.
If you are an undergraduate student who has applied to graduate and intends to enroll in a course in a future term, you must contact the Arts and Science faculty office and fill out a Return to Studies Form to be admitted into a post-degree program. You may then enrol in a course under the post-degree program in SOLUS.
