Art History Master's Program Admission

Admission is normally limited to students with an Honors B.A. degree in Art History or in a closely related discipline, with a minimum second class standing in their undergraduate degree. Preference is given to students with an A- average overall. The Department normally recommends for admission between 10 and 12 new M.A. students each year. Please be aware that not all qualified candidates can be accepted. The application process includes both online and offline elements (see list below). Successful applicants will receive an offer of admission from the School of Graduate Studies.

The application package must include the following:

  • A writing sample (e.g. term paper or thesis chapter)
  • A curriculum vitae
  • A completed online application, including a 500-600 words statement of purpose outlining the applicant's specific area(s) of research and goals
  • Two current academic letters of recommendation
  • Official and up-to-date transcripts from all current and previous study
  • IELTS, TOEFL, PTE Academic or CAEL CE Scores if required.
