Christopher Fanning

Biography

I have taught at Queen’s since 1999. My teaching ranges from first through fourth year undergraduate and graduate courses, always emphasizing close reading, detailed attention to how the formal and material aspects of texts contribute to meaning.

Research Interests

Restoration and eighteenth-century literature, especially satire, the sublime, the novel, print culture. Among the authors most important to me are Swift, Pope, Richardson, Sterne and Austen.
