Intermediate Writing in Prose

This workshop course focuses on the writing and editing of short fiction, novels, and memoir. The aim will be both to generate writing during the semester, and to hone that writing for possible publication. Students will learn to provide generative and respectful feedback on one another’s work as a way of being in community. There will be writing exercises, some required reading, and in-class writing at every session. Participation and attendance are essential.

  • Permission of the instructor

Admission is based on writing samples. Email your student number and a non-rhyming poem or short story, to EnglishDept@queensu.ca. Be sure to identify the course for which you are applying in your email. Early submission is encouraged. The instructor will be accepting submissions until the course is filled. Successful applicants will be notified by the instructor.
