The nomination period for the Principal's Teaching and Learning Awards is now open until February 23, 2026. Due to time constraints, the deadline this year will not be extended as it has in the past.
These annual awards, coordinated with various campus partners, celebrate teaching excellence and the diverse ways educators and staff enhance the student learning experience at Queen’s. They highlight exemplary teaching across disciplines, with a focus on the university’s strategic goals and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs). Recipients are honoured at the university-wide teaching awards celebration in the fall and this type of institutional recognition can translate to being recognized at provincial, national, and international levels.
Award categories include:
- Indigenous Education Award in partnership with the Office of Indigenous Initiatives.
- Alumni Award for Engaging Students as Partners in Learning in partnership with the Queen’s University Alumni Association (QUAA).
- Educational Leadership Award in partnership with the Centre for Teaching and Learning.
- Educational Innovation and Technology Award in partnership with Information Technology Services.
- Globally Engaged Education Innovation Award in partnership with the Office of the Vice-Provost (Global Engagement).
- Promoting Student Inquiry Teaching Award in partnership with Queen's Library.
Nominations may be submitted by students, faculty, staff, and alumni. To support with preparing nominations, the Centre for Teaching and Learning and Principal’s Office are hosting a webinar on January 20, 2026 from 12 - 1 pm.

Principal’s Teaching and Learning Grants
Building on the success of the awards, the new Principal’s Teaching and Learning Grants program is accepting submissions until February 2, 2026. These support innovative, values-driven teaching that advance the university’s strategic priorities and the UN SDGs. The grants provide one-time funding to incorporate inclusive and innovative pedagogy, curriculum, and assessment into undergraduate courses.
