University Club

For more than 50 years, the University Club has provided dining and social activities for its members.

Looking to open its doors further to the Queen’s community, the University Club has eliminated membership fees for all faculty, staff, alumni, and retirees, effective May 1. Details of the different membership groups can be found on the University Club website.

The University Club is required by statute to keep a list of members, so any new members are required to fill out an application form which can be obtained on the club website or by visiting the club located at 168 Stuart St.

“The University Club is proud of its longstanding role in the Queen’s University community. We are excited to be launching our new strategic vision for the University Club as a more inclusive, shared university space,” says Myron Szewczuk, University Club president and professor in the Department of Biomedical and Molecular Sciences. “With the support of Principal Patrick Deane and the unanimous approval of our current membership at a recent special general meeting, we look forward to having a reimagined and reinvigorated presence on the Queen’s University campus.”

Starting May 16, the University Club will offer a new format with a new lunch service (Tuesday-Friday 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m.) and bar service (Thursday and Friday 11:30 a.m.-7 p.m.) Reservations are strongly recommended. The venue also hosts special events such as conferences and meetings as well as weddings and private dining.

“Devising a new strategic initiative for the University Club has required the cooperation and hard work of the board, manager, and staff,” says Alistair MacLean, University Club vice-president and professor emeritus in the Department of Psychology. “We are optimistic that the revitalised services and renewed infrastructure will attract a broader and enthusiastic membership. We hope that both current and new members will be patient during this transition period and enjoy the improved facilities.”

Overlooking Lake Ontario, the University Club offers several dining areas, a bar, and during the summer, a beautiful patio. The club also recently launched an updated menu that includes classics like the U-Club burger and apple chop salad, along with new items including sun-dried tomato pesto flatbread, salmon chow mein, and sweet potato burrito.
