The Department of Gender Studies at Queen’s University invites applications from suitably qualified candidates interested in teaching the following courses (below). These are Winter Term appointments for the period of January 1, 2027, to April 30, 2027, with classes in session from January 4, 2027, to April 5, 2027. Candidates should have a PhD and teaching experience at the University level in Gender Studies, Cultural Studies, Sociology, or a related discipline.

Gender, Race, and Popular Culture (GNDS 125) is a first-year course with an expected enrolment of ~220 students. Five (5) teaching assistants will be assigned, and they will each lead two tutorial sections. GNDS 125 is delivered as a two-hour in-person lecture on Mondays from 9:30 to 11:30 with one-hour tutorial sections led by Teaching Assistants (Mondays from 2:30 to 3:30 and 3:30 to 4:30). 

Special Topics: Curating Solidarities in Contemporary Art (GNDS 480/820) is a combined fourth-year and graduate-level course with an expected enrolment of ~30 students. GNDS 480/820 is delivered as a three-hour in-person lecture.

The academic staff at Queen’s University are governed by the Collective Agreement between the Queen’s University Faculty Association (QUFA) and the University, which is posted at 2022-26 - Queen’s University - QUFA Collective Agreement.  

The stipend for these positions will be between $9,500 and $13,500. Actual salary will be commensurate with years of teaching experience and course weight, as per the Queen’s-QUFA Collective Agreement.
