SparQ Studios Makerspace is excited to announce free, recurring skill-based workshops available to all members of the Queen’s and Kingston communities. These drop-in workshops cover subjects such as 3D Printing 101, Computer Aided Design (3D Modelling) 101 and Soldering & Electronics Working 101 via hands-on, experiential training. Over 65 Queen’s and Kingston community members have attended these workshops since July 2023, with an emphasis on interdisciplinary action and accessibility.
Popular membership options include Fall or Winter access at $30 per term or $50 for both Fall and Winter terms. Recent equipment additions to the electronic-working area and doubling the number of Prusa MK3S+ 3D Printers to eight 3D printers further empower entrepreneurs to prototype their latest designs.
Recent community outreach has included collaboration and workshops with “Arts & Science Undergraduate Society (ASUS)”, “Science Quest”, “Limestone District Schoolboard (LDSB)”, ‘Black Youth in STEM’, “Connection Engineering Outreach (CEO)”, “WE-CAN”, “Men’s Shed’s Kingston”, “Union Gallery” at Stauffer Library, and “Employee Wellness Services” at Queen’s University.
