Queen’s Summer Undergraduate Research Growth Experience (Q-SURGE)
At Queen’s, we value the holistic growth of our students. To better equip our participants for their research experiences and their future careers, we are proud to introduce a professional development program: Q-SURGE. This program is designed to nurture skills as a complement to course based and faculty-supported disciplinary training.
Improve your skills
Q-SURGE comprises a total of six enriching sessions, each carefully crafted to sharpen your research acumen and empower you with valuable skills.
Attending the sessions will equip students with the following competencies:
1. Plan and design the foundational components of conducing a research project;
2. Present research with confidence to diverse audiences using a variety of methods and platforms;
3. Bridge the gap between academia, industry, policy development, and government through knowledge mobilization.
Registration and certificates
Students who complete all sessions qualify for a certificate granted by the Vice-Principal Research Portfolio. If you are able only able to attend five sessions, you may provide evidence of additional training completed in your department or centrally at the university as part of self-directed learning (e.g safety training for research management, ethics training for research management, NVIVO, SPSS, GIS, Python, Matlab and more).
All sessions will be conducted in-person to facilitate real-time engagement, learning, and interaction.
Advance registration is required in order for students to get a Q-SURGE certificate.
