U.S. Funding

Investigators from Canadian institutions may be eligible to apply for certain research funding programs offered by the Federal Government of the United States. Some funding agencies include the Department of Defense (DOD), National Institutes of Health (NIH), and National Science Foundation (NSF). Be sure to check the eligibility criteria to ensure foreign institutions are eligible to apply.

Many programs are offered through bilateral or multilateral agreements and may require collaboration with U.S. partners or institutions. Given the complexity of eligibility criteria and coordination requirements, researchers are encouraged to engage early with our team for guidance and support throughout the application process.

National Institutes of Health

The U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH) is among the world’s largest public funders of biomedical and health research, driving advances in fundamental science and global health. Although most NIH funding is reserved for U.S. institutions, Canadian researchers may be eligible for certain programs and collaborate on NIH-funded initiatives.
