From Queen's Health Sciences and Affiliated Teaching Hospital Research Ethics Board (HSREB) and General Research Ethics Board (GREB):
Researchers are advised to use the Research Data Storage Finder (RDSF) to determine the most appropriate storage option for their research data.
Previously, Microsoft OneDrive was promoted as a default research data storage solution; however, new storage limitations on OneDrive at Queen’s make it an unsuitable option depending on storage requirements.
No ethics amendment required
Please note, no amendment to your ethics application is required if research data is being transferred from OneDrive to another Queen’s-endorsed storage solution identified in the RDSF.
Consent form guidance
Going forward, please refer to data storage locations in consent forms using the general term “Queen’s Endorsed Storage Solution” rather than naming a specific storage platform (e.g., OneDrive, Teams). This approach ensures compliance with data security standards while allowing flexibility in data storage solutions.
