I want to study...Computing

The School of Computing offers Plans in Computing and Information Science (CISC), Computing (COMP), Computer Science (CSCI), Cognitive Science (COGS), Biomedical Computing (BMCO), Computing and the Creative Arts (COCA) and Software Design (SODE).  COCA leads to a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree and is open to Arts students.

First Year CISC courses (all students)

All students intending to pursue a Plan in a Computing discipline should take:

CISC 121/3.0 and CISC 124/3.0 (These courses assume previous programming experience and/or  computing courses at the high school level.  If you are lacking this experience, you can defer these courses to the Winter Term.  See What CISC course should I take? for suggestions on how to prepare yourself for these courses during the Fall Term)

Computing and Information Science, Computer Science, Computing, and Software Design

To pursue a Plan in CISC, CSCI, COMP, or SODE you should additionally take:

MATH 121/6.0 or MATH 120/6.0 (calculus: see What MATH course should I take?)

MATH 111/6.0 or MATH 110/6.0 (linear algebra: see What MATH course should I take?)

Biomedical Computing

To pursue a Plan in BMCO you should additionally take:

BIOL 102/3.0 and BIOL 103/3.0 (Biology:  see What BIOL course should I take?)

CHEM 112/6.0 (see first year Chemistry)

MATH 121/6.0 or MATH 120/6.0 (calculus: see What MATH course should I take?)

MATH 111/6.0 or MATH 110/6.0 (linear algebra: see What MATH course should I take?)

Note that the initial requirements of this Plan leave no room for electives at first year.  You may want to consider deferring the chemistry or one of the math requirements to second year
Computing and the Creative Arts

To pursue a Plan in COCA you should additionally take:

MATH 112/3.0 or MATH 111/6.0 or MATH 126/6.0 (calculus or linear algebra: see What MATH course should I take?   Note that if you later change your mind and want to change to another computing discipline, you would be advised to take MATH 111/6.0)

and one of the following creative arts disciplines:

ARTH 120/6.0 (see first year Art History)

FILM 110/6.0 (see first year Film)

DRAM 100/6.0 (see first year Drama)

MUSC 103/3.0 and MUSC 191/6.0 (Music:  see What MUSC course should I take? and note that MUSC 103/3.0 requires that,  as a prerequisite, you hold the Royal Conservatory of Music Grade II Rudiments with first class honours standing.)

Cognitive Science

To pursue a Plan in COGS you should additionally take:

COGS 100/6.0 (see first year Cognitive Science)

PSYC 100/6.0 (see first year Psychology)

MATH 111/6.0 or MATH 110/6.0 (linear algebra: see What MATH course should I take?)

LING 100/6.0 or PHIL 170/3.0 or PHIL 154/3.0.  Choose at least one of these courses to be in a position to pursue your upper year options.
