Funds for Art History

Venice Summer School Fund

The Department of Art offers a unique way to study the history of art and architecture of Venice and its surroundings through its Venice Summer School. For almost 40 years we have offered students the opportunity to study architecture, sculpture, mosaic, and painting in their original settings, through visiting medieval and renaissance churches and palaces. Gifts to this fund will be used to keep the students' fees as low as possible, and will also provide bursaries for students who would otherwise not be able to participate in this unique experience.

Vojtech Jirat-Wasiutynski Memorial Travel Fund

This fund supports travel for art history graduate students to see first hand the works of art that they are studying. "Professor J-W", as he was affectionately known by many of his students, was an internationally renowned pioneer in the collaboration between art historians and conservators, and an utterly dedicated teacher who taught 19th and 20th century European art history at Queen's for almost 35 years.

Merle and Philip Koven Bursary in Art History

This fund provides financial support for upper-year students in art history. The bursary fund was initially established by Philip Koven in honour of his wife, Merle Koven, both passionate supporters of the arts in Kingston. After Philip Koven passed away in 2008, the fund received many gifts in his memory.
