About My Research:

I am a geophysicist by training, and have held positions at the GeoForschungsZentrum Potsdam, The Ohio State University, The University of Calgary and The University of Texas at Dallas. My research is focused on understanding Earth systems and their interactions by using geophysical observations from satellites, airborne and terrestrial platforms. My most recent projects deal with monitoring multi-scale changes of mountain glaciers and ice sheets from satellite altimetry, magnetometry of Amerindian settlements on Antigua, Arctic change, and the fusion of LiDAR and other elevation observations for the generation of dynamic Digital Elevation Models. My research lab uses a linux cluster with a Hadoop file system and includes some of the best 4-D visualization systems available.

Research Interests:

  • Unmanned Airborne Vehichle (UAV) Magnetometry
  • Time-lapse Superconducting Gravimetry for Monitoring Reservoir Fluid Migration
  • Sinkhole Hazard Characterization using GPR and Geospatial Analysis
  • Development of a GNSS Glider for Sentinel-3 Altimetry Calibration
  • Identifying unmarked graves in cemeteries along the Rideau Canal using GPR, magnetometry and UAVs Artic Ocean Tides

  • Admiral Richard E. Byrd Fellow
  • University of Calgary Engineering Students Society award for excellence in teaching, 2006 and 2007
  • University of Calgary Schulich School of Engineering Early Research Excellence Award, 2008
  • Certificate of Appreciation, Univ of Texas at Dallas Office of Technology Commercialization, 2012
