The Marthe Vogt Award is an annual prize established in 2001 by the Forschungsverbund Berlin (FVB), consisting of €3,000 to recognize outstanding doctoral theses by young female scientists in the Berlin-Brandenburg region. The award is named after Marthe Louise Vogt (1903–2003), a pioneering neuroscientist who researched neurotransmitters and fled Nazi Germany to continue her work in the UK.
This year's winner:
2026: Dr. Lara Greten (Physicist) for her thesis on light-matter interaction in ultrathin materials.
Some of Dr. Greten's research work on nanoscale light-matter interactions (nanophotonics and quantum optics) is part of a collaboration between Professor Andreas Knorr (Technical University, Berlin) and Professor Stephen Hughes (Queen's), which now continues into new areas with Dr. Greten based at Queen's University as a Feodor Lynen Research Fellow, funded by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation.
