Occasionally, you may find that a course you have chosen is just not for you or you have decided that you want to change the direction that your Plan is taking. You have the option to drop courses but this must be done within certain deadlines. It is therefore, very important to monitor your academic progress and if you feel that you are falling behind or in danger of possibly failing a course, to make a decision whether or not to drop a course by these deadlines. Not sure what to do? Seek some advice through the Faculty Office, F200 Mackintosh-Corry Hall (613) 533-2470. It may also help to speak with your instructor, your TAs and your parents.
There are two important deadlines to keep in mind – the financial deadline and the academic deadline.
The financial deadline is the final date to drop a course and receive a full tuition refund. Should you drop a course after the financial deadline but before the academic deadline, you may receive a partial tuition refund. Any refund will be credited back to your student account. Refund cheques can be requested through the Office of the University Registrar. For more information, see http://www.queensu.ca/registrar/currentstudents/fees/refund.html
The financial drop deadlines for the 2013-14 academic year are:
September 20 (to drop a fall term course for a 100% tuition refund)
January 17 (to drop a winter term course for a 100% tuition refund)
The academic drop deadline is the final date to drop a course. Any course dropped by the academic deadline will not appear on your transcript.
The academic drop dealines for the 2013-14 academic year are:
