Building Back Better - Taking Stock

Virtual event

Queen's social policy conference 2020, under the overarching theme Building Back Better: Forging a Post-Pandemic Social Contract That Works For All, will explore how Canada and other Organisations for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) countries can rethink and reset critical building blocks of social policy in light of the falt lines exposed by the current crisis.

As Canada’s premiere social policy conference, for two and a half decades we have probed the most pressing social policy issues facing Canada and other OECD countries.

As Canada and other OECD countries head into fall 2020, they continue to work towards re-opening their economies. Join us in discussing the pandemic's impact on different OECD economies, sectors, regions, citizens and generations, what we have learned about the enabling conditions and policy mix for resilient economies and societies, and the actions that Canada has taken in response to this crisis.

Speaker Panel:

  • Catherine Adam, Senior Assistant Deputy Minister, Employment and Social Development Canada (Moderator)
  • Stefano Scarpetta, Director, Employment, Labour and Social Affairs,
Organisation of Economic Co-operation and Development
  • Kevin Milligan, Professor of Economics, Vancouver School of Economics, University of British Columbia
