On the heels of Taylor Swift's Eras Tour, we would like to present an exciting opportunity. Please join Professor Mohamed Khimji, Colin Brown, Law'14, and Ambreena Ladhani, Law'25, as they dive into "Law, Taylor's Version," a new business law course at Queen's. 

This Webinar will discuss everything from the re-recorded tracks to the nuances of personal v. public trademark and explore Taylor Swift's legal journey. 

About the Speakers

Mohamed Khimji; David Allgood Professor in Business Law; Professor LLB (Bristol), LLM (LSE)

Mohamed Khimji is the inaugural holder of the David Allgood Professorship in Business Law.  He has also served in a number of senior leadership roles at Queen's Law, including as Director of the Queen’s Business Law Program, Associate Dean for Academic Policy, and Associate Dean for Graduate Studies.  His strategic academic leadership has been instrumental in advancing the Faculty's academic goals and objectives. 

In the 2024/25 academic year, Professor Khimji will introduce an exciting new course, Law (Taylor's Version), which has garnered national media attention.  This innovative course will explore Taylor Swift's significant impact on entertainment law, delving into her high-profile legal disputes and business decisions.  

Professor Khimji's research spans various facets of corporate and commercial law, including the proprietary aspects of international financial markets, corporate governance, the power dynamics between shareholders and boards of directors, the separate legal personality of corporations, limited liability for shareholders, and the wealth effects of secured financing.  He has provided expert consultation on these topics to private law firms, government bodies, and regulatory agencies in Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom. Before his academic career, he practiced corporate law at Torys LLP in Toronto.

Colin Brown 

Colin serves as Chief of Staff & Legal Counsel to the CEO's Office at Roc Nation. Founded in 2008 by JAY-Z to be a premiere global entertainment organization, Roc Nation is a multifaceted company motivated by innovation, creativity and building brands with a connective thread through all facets of culture.

Colin has worked as a business and legal executive in several high-growth and regulated industries, taking several companies public, coordinating the sale of large organizations and incubating new brands. Colin has also served on select board of directors. 

Colin began his career as a corporate attorney at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP focusing on capital markets and mergers/acquisitions. Colin is a Queen's alumni having received a JD/MBA joint degree. 

Ambreena Ladhani

Ambreena is a third-year law student at Queen's University with a strong interest in intellectual property law, particularly in artificial intelligence, fashion, and media industries.
