Marco Alessio Memorial Basketball Game

Join us on Saturday, Nov. 17 for the annual Marco Alessio Memorial Basketball Game & Scholarship Presentation. Watch the Gaels take on the Waterloo Warriors starting at 8:00 pm in the Athletics and Recreation Centre (ARC) - prior to the game the 10th annual Marco Alessio Scholarship will be awarded.

The Marco W. Alessio Memorial game is named in memory of Marco William Alessio, a former Gaels basketball player from 1987 to 1989. Mark became a teacher following his time at Queen's and he travelled the world, teaching in Hong Kong, Mexico, Spain and Madagascar. It was in Madagascar that Mark lost his life on February 23, 2009, at the age of 43 during a time of political upheaval in the African nation.

To honour Mark and to recognize how important Queen's and the basketball team were to him, a scholarship was established during the 2009-10 season in his memory - this is a particularly meaningful year as it is the 10th anniversary of the scholarship, so we are inviting alumni to join us on Nov. 17th!

Tickets for the game are included in your registration - you will be able to pick up your tickets at will-call that day.
