Meet the speaker: Nafisa Baboo
Nafisa Baboo is an internationally recognized disability-inclusive education expert with more than 18 years of experience across 19 low- and middle-income countries.
A speech-language therapist and audiologist with a master’s degree in inclusive education, she combines technical expertise with lived experience as a woman with a disability from the Global South.
Nafisa has shaped global policy, led evidence-driven advocacy, and authored influential publications such as Costing Equity, The case is clear for financing inclusive education for children with disabilities, and The lives of children with disabilities in Africa: A review of African studies.
Technology as an enabler of inclusive education has been a central theme in the initiatives she has led.
Nafisa has held global leadership roles, including chairing the IDDC Inclusive Education Task Group and serving on the Global Campaign for Education Board. She is the guest editor for the upcoming NORRAG Special Issue on Disability-Inclusive Education.

The Dr. Malcolm Peat Lectureship was established by family, friends, and the School of Rehabilitation Therapy in memory and recognition of Dr. Malcolm Peat, former director of Queen’s School of Rehabilitation Therapy and founder of the International Centre for the Advancement of Community Based Rehabilitation (ICACBR).
