This fall, 10 students from across Canada will arrive at Queen’s with big plans for what they want to learn and explore in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
They’ll also arrive with the support to pursue those possibilities.
The students have been named Queen’s 2026 Schulich Leaders, recipients of Canada’s most prestigious undergraduate scholarships in STEM. Those entering engineering will receive $120,000, while those studying science, technology, or math will receive $100,000.
It’s support that can ease financial pressure and give students more time to focus on the full Queen’s experience, including classes and clubs, new friendships, entrepreneurial endeavours, and the projects and ideas they want to take on. Along the way, they’ll have opportunities to build the skills and experience that can help them become the next generation of leaders in STEM.

- India Newell, North Vancouver, B.C.
- Shiv Patel, Mississauga, Ont.
- Zane Radawiec, Courtenay, B.C.
- Sarah Rose, Trenton, Ont.
Business leader and philanthropist Seymour Schulich established the $200-million scholarship program in 2012 to support entrepreneurial-minded young people pursuing STEM degrees. Each year, 100 graduating high-school students receive scholarships to attend one of 20 partner universities across Canada.
The 2026 recipients were selected from more than 1,300 nominees drawn from a pool of approximately 350,000 potential candidates. Every Canadian high school can nominate one student each year based on entrepreneurial leadership and financial need.
This year also marks the 15th cohort of Schulich Leaders. Since the program began, it has supported more than 1,000 Canadian students.
