Homecoming October 17. United by moments

Rogers, Garcia to co-host Queen’s 2020 virtual Homecoming

Two Queen’s alumni have agreed to co-host the first ever Queen’s virtual Homecoming.

Award-winning broadcast journalist Shelagh Rogers, Artsci’77, LLD'19, and Queen's University Alumni Association President Rico Garcia, Artsci’13, will share the hosting duties as alumni from around the world take part in an interactive online Homecoming experience Saturday, Oct. 17.

“I started my broadcasting career at CFRC, the Queen’s campus radio station,” says Rogers. “And I am just thrilled to come ‘home’ to Queen’s to celebrate with our global community. It will be fun to share hosting duties with Rico!”

“I love being part of such an engaged community at Queen's,” says Garcia. “I am honoured to co-host this first-ever virtual Homecoming experience alongside Shelagh.”

Popular local singer/songwriter Jay Smith (Smitty Kingston) will make a musical guest appearance.

“I’ve been entertaining Queen’s students and alumni since 1998,” says Smith. “We may not be able to gather at The Brass Pub, but we can still sing, dance, and party together in this new virtual setting.”

Register for this exciting new interactive event on October 17.
