There Is Still Time To Register For This Year's Homecoming Celebration!

Imagine being a part of a weekend-long celebration that includes thousands of guests of all ages and from all over the world, hundreds of volunteers, and a vast array of events including art gallery tours, a football game in a packed stadium, delicious dinners in downtown Kingston restaurants full of laughter and conversation, tree planting, parades –  and that’s barely scratching the surface! Over 2200 alumni and guests have already taken their first step to transform imagination into reality by registering for Queen’s Homecoming 2015. Hailing from all around the globe and from graduating years from the 2010s to the 1940s, Queen’s alumni will be warmly welcomed back to their alma mater on the weekend of October 23-25.

Current Queen’s students are gearing up to participate in that warm welcome of alumni to campus. Even as you read this, students from all Schools and Faculties are signing up to volunteer for hundreds of positions. Throughout the weekend, upwards of 200 students will be sharing their time and energy as volunteers, and the roles are as diverse and unique as the students themselves. Enthusiastic students will be painting faces at the Queen’s School of Business Brunch at Goodes Hall on Saturday morning; helping carry banners at the half-time parade on Saturday afternoon; planting trees near Summerhill alongside alumni on Sunday morning; taking incredible photographs throughout the weekend; and much more.

“This will be my second Homecoming volunteering as an Access Champion,” says Megan Loma, Artsci’15. “It’s a great feeling to connect with alumni and know that I’ve helped them feel confident and comfortable as they access the wonderful events planned for the weekend.”

Alumni volunteers are also busy with planning and communication to their classes and groups now that Homecoming weekend is less than a month away. Over 100 alumni have been working hard not only to plan wonderful events for their class or group, but also to inspire their fellow alumni to give philanthropically to Queen’s initiatives.

Huge thanks to all Homecoming volunteers – students and alumni. Each of you makes Homecoming weekend shine a little brighter.

It’s almost time to celebrate old memories and make amazing new ones. Registration for Homecoming 2015 will be open online until Wednesday, October 21 – celebrate your milestone reunion by coming home to Queen’s this fall!
