As Dean Deluzio begins his final year leading Smith Engineering, he will reflect on the faculty’s transformation and accomplishments over the past decade, including the people, programs, and partnerships that have helped shape Smith Engineering today.
The evening will also look ahead, with a preview of what’s next for Smith Engineering over the coming decade.

Dr. Kevin Deluzio, Sc’88
Dean, Smith Engineering
Dr. Kevin J. Deluzio, Sc’88, has served as Dean of Smith Engineering since 2017, leading the faculty through a period of transformation and evolution in engineering education. A strong champion of equity and diversity, he is committed to preparing graduates to take on the world’s greatest challenges and helping build a more inclusive engineering profession.
An award-winning teacher and internationally recognized researcher, Dr. Deluzio is also a Professor of Mechanical Engineering and Head of the Human Mobility Research Laboratory at Queen’s. He is a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering, the Engineering Institute of Canada, and the Canadian Society for Biomechanics.
