Jonathan Fawcett

Year of Study: 2nd Year
Area of Study: Bachelor of Applied Science (Engineering Physics)
Faculty/School: Faculty of Engineering

I chose Queen's because of its excellent support systems and a wide variety of opportunities. The students and staff alike are so kind and caring and will do anything to help you when you're in trouble. The plethora of extracurricular clubs also give opportunities for learning outside the classroom and allows me to gain real engineering experience, such as in designing a hybrid rocket engine.

Thanks to my student award, I can spend my free time working on a hybrid rocket engine for the Queen's Rocket Engineering Team or playing clarinet for the Queen's University Chamber Orchestra.

I sincerely believe that our next step as a species is to colonize other planets and explore the galaxy. If I could help make that a reality, it would be a dream come true. I hope to put the skills I’ve learned to the test at the Canadian Space Agency to further humanity's reach into the stars.

To the donors who support student awards, thank you for being so kind and generous. I will be sure to pass it on throughout my life.
