Ian Hodkinson, founder of Queen's University's Art Conservation program, has been appointed to the Order of Canada. Alongside Queen's alumna Moira Hutchinson (Arts'64, M.A.'68) and Queen's supporter R. Jamie Anderson, Hodkinson was appointed as an Officer of the Order of Canada in recognition of "his pioneering and extensive contributions to the preservation and conservation of Canada's cultural heritage."

M.A. student Akosua Adasi has curated Imagining Sustainable Futures, the exhibition currently on at Union Gallery's Main Space until July 23, 2022. The exhibition, featuring works by nine Katarokwi-Kingston-based student and professional artists, looks at sustainable futures in our local and global surroundings.

From June 16-18, 2022, Open Art Histories will hold its Summer Pedagogy Institute at the Agnes Etherington Art Centre and Union Gallery.

The Institute brings together educators from various disciplines, examining important pedagogical issues, strategies for increasing arts education's accessibility and diversity, and methods of putting these concepts into practice.

The Art Gallery of Ontario has donated a fascinating triptych to the Art Conservation Study Collection. Conserved in the 1930s by George Stout, a key figure in the history of Art Conservation, Lamentation with Saints and Donors has arrived at Queen’s with detailed documentation showing a history of investigation into this somewhat bewildering object.
