At the Queen’s Engineering Competition (January 15-17), Kyle Singer (Eng Phys) and his team won the Programming Competition and went on to win the Ontario Engineering Competition (in programming)  which was held from January 22-24th. Kyle and his team will be moving on to the Canadian Engineering Competition which will be held in late February.

The challenge for Kyle's group was to show how a virus infecting Ontario would traverse through a high school in 1 day.

The goal was to show the correlations between students, teachers, and TAs.

Their program creates a simulation through each stage of the day as to how the virus is spreading through the school and the probability of someone contracting it. The images show the output of their code. The network images show the changing probabilities of the different students, teachers, and TAs of contracting the virus. The image with more dark blue dots is the start of the day (dark blue meaning lower probability) and the one with more mixed colours (approaching red meaning higher probability) is the end of the day with each network representing the different classes.
