Professor Emeritus and Nobel Laureate Arthur McDonald of the Department of Physics, Engineering Physics & Astronomy has been named a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). He is awarded this honour for "leading the Sudbury Neutrino Observatory scientific collaboration in the discovery of neutrino oscillations" and his role in establishing the Sudbury Neutrino Observatory (SNO) now SNOLAB.

AAAS is the world's largest multidisciplinary scientific society with members from 91 different countries. Formed in 1848, Dr. McDonald joins 15 other Queen's professors who have been named a Fellow to the Association.

Dr. McDonald states,

It is indeed an honour to receive this award for our scientific work from this respected organization. I hope that our success will inspire future scientists in understanding our world at a very fundamental level.
