Bagels and Bequests: Edmonton Edition

Join Queen's Alumni and Queen's Gift Planning for a special breakfast talk featuring will and estate planning expert Colleen Feehan, Law'09, of Feehan Law. This estate planning primer will cover key topics, including:

  • the importance of having a will and things to keep in mind while writing or updating one;
  • powers of attorney for incapacity planning and substitute decision-making;
  • and supporting your family and leaving a legacy, including through charitable giving.

This morning event will include a light breakfast, coffee, tea, and juice. There will be time set aside for answering audience questions, which can also be submitted in advance.

Colleen FeehanColleen Feehan, Law'09

Colleen's practice focuses on Wills and Estates, including planning, administration, and litigation. She prepares Wills, Powers of Attorney and Personal Health Care Directives for clients. She also prepares and litigates Guardianship and Trusteeship appointments and applications, assists Executors with obtaining Grants of Probate and Administration, and provides advice in navigating the administration of estates.

Colleen's litigation practice focuses on assisting clients who are uncertain about the conduct of executors, feel the need to challenge a Will or Trust and those vulnerable clients who need to seek support from an estate. 

Colleen understands that in many cases, clients will be going through a difficult time navigating the death or vulnerability of a loved one and the competing interests of family and loved ones. She strives to provide practical advice in an understanding atmosphere.

Colleen was called to the Law Society of Ontario in 2010 and then the Law Society of Alberta in 2011. She obtained a bachelor's degree in English and History from the University of Alberta in 2006 and a Juris Doctorate from Queen's University in 2009. Colleen practiced on Bay Street for 7 years before returning to her hometown of Edmonton.  You can often find Colleen speaking on the topic of Wills & Estates in connection with organizations including the Edmonton Community Foundation, Norquest College and Central Lions Seniors' Association.

There is street parking available on 112 Street NW in front of the EMCN and a paid parking lot on the southern end of the block. The nearest transit stop is a three-minute walk away at 112 Street NW and Jasper Avenue.
