How does the application process work?
Applications open February 17, 2026, and close March 10, 2026. Once you submit your application, it will be reviewed by Queen’s Advancement staff in collaboration with volunteer branch leadership, designated QUAA Board members, and faculty representatives, where applicable, using consistent evaluation criteria. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted with the next steps. Due to the volume of applications, not all applicants will be invited to interview. However, Queen’s Advancement staff will follow up with each candidate to discuss other opportunities to engage with the Alumni Branch and the broader Queen’s alumni community.
Please note that applicants should have a meaningful connection to the local alumni community and be able to participate in local branch activities.
Who is involved in the process?
Interviews are conducted virtually and are led by Queen’s Advancement staff in partnership with volunteer branch leadership, designated QUAA Board members, and designated faculty representatives where applicable. Interviews focus on collaboration, relevant experience, and alignment with the goals of the Alumni Branch and the specific volunteer role, using consistent evaluation criteria.
Do I need prior alumni or volunteer leadership experience?
Previous volunteer or leadership experience is an asset but not required. We welcome applications from alumni with a range of backgrounds and experiences.
When do volunteer roles begin?
Volunteer roles typically begin following the completion of the selection process, with onboarding and orientation provided before volunteers assume their responsibilities.
Time commitments vary by role and throughout the year, with increased activity around event planning and delivery. Estimated monthly commitments are outlined in each role description.
All volunteer leaders are supported by Queen’s Advancement staff through training, tools, and ongoing partnership.
Please note that application information will be used solely for volunteer selection and onboarding purposes.
Will I hear back if I am not selected?
Yes. All applicants will hear from us. Candidates will be contacted to let them know whether they are moving forward in the process. For those not selected for a specific role, we look forward to connecting about other ways to engage with the Alumni Branch and the broader Queen’s alumni community.
Is Queen’s committed to inclusive volunteer leadership?
Yes. We are committed to building inclusive and representative volunteer leadership teams and encourage applications from alumni of all backgrounds and experiences.
