Alumni Branch Leadership Volunteer Opportunities

Lead, connect, and strengthen the Queen’s alumni community

Available locations: Toronto and New York

Application period: June 29, 2026, to July 19, 2026.

Queen’s Alumni Branches are local hubs for connection, leadership, and community-building. They help alumni stay connected to Queen’s and to one another through meaningful programming, peer outreach, volunteer leadership, philanthropy, partnerships, and year-round engagement.

By stepping into a Branch leadership role, you will help strengthen Queen’s presence in your local market and create welcoming opportunities for alumni to connect, contribute, and give back. Branch leaders work as part of a collaborative volunteer team, with guidance, tools, and support from Queen’s Advancement staff.

This recruitment cycle includes leadership opportunities in Toronto and New York. In Toronto, we are recruiting for all Branch leadership roles except Co-President. In New York, we are recruiting for the full Branch leadership team.

Ready to help shape your local Queen’s alumni community? Apply during the application period and be part of building what comes next.

How does the application process work?

Applications open June 29, 2026, and close July 19, 2026. Once you submit your application, it will be reviewed by Queen’s Advancement staff in collaboration with volunteer branch leadership, designated QUAA Board members, and faculty representatives, where applicable, using consistent evaluation criteria.

Shortlisted candidates will be contacted with the next steps. Due to the volume of applications, not all applicants will be invited to interview. However, Queen’s Advancement staff will follow up with each candidate to discuss other opportunities to engage with the Alumni Branch and the broader Queen’s alumni community.

Please note that applicants should have a meaningful connection to the local alumni community in Toronto or New York and be able to participate in local branch activities.

Who is involved in the process?

Interviews are conducted virtually and are led by Queen’s Advancement staff in partnership with volunteer branch leadership, designated QUAA Board members, and designated faculty representatives, where applicable.

Interviews focus on collaboration, relevant experience, local connection, and alignment with the goals of the Alumni Branch and the specific volunteer role, using consistent evaluation criteria.

Do I need prior alumni or volunteer leadership experience?

Previous volunteer or leadership experience is an asset but not required. We welcome applications from alumni with a range of backgrounds, skills, and experiences.

When do volunteer roles begin?

Volunteer roles typically begin following the completion of the selection process, with onboarding and orientation provided before volunteers assume their responsibilities.

Time commitments vary by role and throughout the year, with increased activity around planning, programming, communications, and branch initiatives. Estimated monthly commitments are outlined in each role description.

All volunteer leaders are supported by Queen’s Advancement staff through training, tools, and ongoing partnership.
Please note that application information will be used solely for volunteer selection and onboarding purposes.

Will I hear back if I am not selected?

Yes. All applicants will hear from us. Candidates will be contacted to let them know whether they are moving forward in the process. For those not selected for a specific role, we look forward to connecting about other ways to engage with the Alumni Branch and the broader Queen’s alumni community.

Is Queen’s committed to inclusive volunteer leadership?

Yes. We are committed to building inclusive and representative volunteer leadership teams and encourage applications from alumni of all backgrounds and experiences.
