This virtual event titled “In the Future, Will Everything that Moves be a Robot?” will feature Dr. Joshua Marshall, Professor, Smith Engineering and Director, Ingenuity Labs Research Institute at Queen's. Dr. Marshall will share the remarkable journey of this collaborative research institute over the past five years, highlighting groundbreaking advancements and innovative projects. Discover how Queen's is poised to grow its prominence in the dynamic fields of artificial intelligence and robotics.

About the speaker
Professor Joshua Marshall, PhD, PEng, is a trailblazing engineering scientist and expert in systems control engineering, mobile robotics, and autonomous vehicle navigation. Born in Iqaluit, raised in St. Lucia and across Canada, his internationally-recognized work spans heavy vehicle automation in the mining, space, marine, and defence sectors, tackling challenges in harsh environments. Dr. Marshall earned his PhD from the University of Toronto and joined Queen’s in 2010 after working in R&D for the Canadian robotics firm MDA Inc. As the Director of the Ingenuity Labs Research Institute, he leads groundbreaking interdisciplinary efforts focused on enhancing human productivity, safety, and quality of life through the design and development of intelligent systems and robotic machines. Dr. Marshall's impact extends beyond academia, with his innovations commercialized by industry leaders like Epiroc AB, showcasing his commitment to bridging research with industrial applications.
