The challenge of global medical collaborations: moving beyond medical missions

Join us for the Dr. J. Hugh and Miriam McGuire Lectureship in Surgery featuring Dr. Peter Kingham. This presentation will give examples of successful collaborations between high and low-income countries. We will discuss the challenges of creating culturally appropriate collaborations.

Dr. Peter Kingham is Director of Global Cancer Disparity Initiatives at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. His primary research interest is determining how to improve cancer care for patients in low- and middle-income countries and colorectal cancer liver metastasis management. Dr. Kingham is also Program Director of the International Surgical Oncology Fellowship and the Global Oncology Fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering.

About the Dr. J. Hugh and Miriam McGuire Lectureship in Surgery

The Dr. J. Hugh and Miriam McGuire Endowment for Visiting Scholars is used to host prominent scholars at Queen’s University in Surgery. It is the goal of the Lectureship that the visiting scholar will bring special expertise to Queen’s Surgery, stimulate new ideas and new methodologies among Queen’s medical scientists and clinicians, and provide new concepts to the students.
