Tracy Beck Fenwick is the Director, of the Australian Centre for Federalism and an Associate Professor in the School of Politics and I.R. at the Australian National University. Tracy is an expert in comparative federalism and social policy implementation. She has previously held visiting appointments at the University of British Columbia, McGill University, Universidad de San Martin (Argentina), Universidade Federal da Bahia (UFBA), and at the Fundacão Getulio Vargas (FGV-SP). Tracy was a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the Johnson-Shoyama Graduate School of Public Policy at the University of Saskatchewan. She has worked recently as a consultant and advisor on federalism and social protection policy to the World Bank, UNICEF, national governments and NGOs. She completed her doctorate specializing in Comparative Politics at the University of Oxford, U.K. in 2009 (St. Anthony's College). She holds a M.A. in Comparative Politics and a B.A. in Latin American Studies and Economics from McGill University, Canada. She edited "Beyond Autonomy: Practical and Theoretical Challenges to 21st Century Federalism" with Andrew Banfield (2021) and published a single-authored book: (2016) "Avoiding Governors: Federalism, Democracy, and Poverty Alleviation in Brazil and Argentina." Notre Dame Indiana: University of Notre Dame Press.  She also recently published in Publius (2021); Policy and Society (2018); Policy Studies (2017); Global Social Policy (2022; 2013), the Journal of Politics in Latin America (2010), and in the Latin American Research Review (2009). Tracy is currently working on a collaborative international project about why constituent units both abdicate and delegate their authority to the federal centre.

Originally from Toronto, ON, Cayleigh is entering her final year at Queen’s University, studying Politics, Philosophy, and Economics (Politics specialization). Her interest in interdisciplinary studies is apparent in her work at the Institute of Intergovernmental Relations, where she is assisting on a comparative project on money laundering, terrorist financing, and illicit uses of cryptocurrency. Her other research interests include environmental policy, international peace and security, and healthcare and the law.  

In addition to her studies and work, Cayleigh is an avid reader, aspiring yoga teacher, mental health advocate, nature lover, and baker.

Sean Grogan is a PhD Student at Polytechnique Montréal in Industrial Engineering and Applied Mathematics and a post-doctoral fellow at the Laboratory of Elections and Democracy based out of the Royal Military College’s department of Political Science and Economics.  His research interests and experience revolve largely around using geospatial data in mathematical optimization and data analysis.  Specifically working on problems in routing problems, location problems, location and routing problems, humanitarian logistics, mineral supply chain, project management, and project scheduling.

His professional and personal interests – engineering projects, disaster response, humanitarian assistance, avid voter – have shaped the problems in he works on. He has experience with Canadian Census and relevant spatial data, United States spatial data, meteorological spatial data, humanitarian data, mineral exploration data, financial data, Canadian Election data, and geotechnical data.

Naomi is a Graduate student at Toronto Metropolitan University originally from Fredericton, New Brunswick. She graduated from Queen's University in 2021 with a BAH in Art History and Film and Media. During the height of COVID-19, Naomi took an interest in how a global pandemic can affect the performance industry. Her undergraduate thesis, a mini documentary series taking place during the pandemic, documented the drag community in Kingston, with a specific focus on how drag kings are treated in society. Since then, she has completed her first year of a Master’s degree at Toronto Metropolitan University in Scriptwriting and Story Design. Naomi’s interests include archival studies in Art History and Filmmaking and environmental studies with a focus on sustainable energy. Her research interests include Queer theory, feminist theory, and familial ties within both Film and Media and Renaissance/Baroque Art. 

Outside of academics, Naomi can be found on film sets acting, directing, and working behind the scenes or at the pool swimming laps. She enjoys reading, writing, crochet, the great outdoors, and never shies away from an interior design project.

Leonie was born and raised in Montreal, Quebec but decided to pursue her BAH at Queen's University. She is currently a fourth-year political studies major and global development minor. During her third year, she studied abroad at the University of St. Andrews and the National University of Singapore. It was during these studies, that she developed a keen interest in security studies, more specifically, a focus on studying terrorism and counterterrorism within the regions of Southeast Asia and Asia-Pacific. During her spare time, Leonie enjoys reading, biking, and traveling.

Julian is a third-year Political Studies major with a minor in Philosophy, and aspires to attend law school post-graduation. He has a strong interest in international politics, foreign policy and affairs, global conflict and supranational institutions. Julian’s work discussing United States foreign policy in the Iraq War has been published in The Student Strategy & Security Journal, an academic political journal. This is Julian’s first year working for IIGR, where he acts as a student research assistant for a comparative project on Money Laundering, Terrorist Financing and illicit uses of Cryptocurrency. Outside of school and work, Julian acts as a member of the editorial board for Queen’s Politicus undergraduate journal, and loves sports, music, TV and movies, and traveling. He previously lived in North Vancouver, British Columbia, before moving to Georgetown, Ontario.

Gabrielle is a fourth year student from Mississauga, Ontario who is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts Honours at Queen’s. Her major is Political Studies with a History minor, and she is also currently completing a Smith Certificate in Business. Her main research interests include terrorist financing, foreign policy, and Canadian politics. This past year she represented Queen’s students as an Academics Coordinator for the Political Studies Department Student Council. When not working or studying, Gabrielle enjoys skiing and travelling.
