Dr. Evelyn Namakula Mayanja is the holder of the 2020-21 James N. Rosenau Postdoctoral Fellowship from the International Studies Association (ISA), which recognises excellence in scholarship, outreach, and professional development in academic settings. Working with supervisor Dr. Andrew Grant, her postdoctoral research project examines the governance, labour, gender, and human rights challenges associated with the political economy of mineral resource sectors in Africa. Dr. Mayanja’s doctoral thesis, People’s Experiences, Perceptions and Images of Conflict and Peacebuilding in South Kivu, Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, received the University of Manitoba’s Distinguished Dissertation Award. At the conclusion of her Postdoctoral Fellowship, Dr. Mayanja will join the Human Rights and Social Justice (HUMR) faculty complement at Carleton University’s Institute of Interdisciplinary Studies (IIS) at the rank of Assistant Professor.
