It is with great sadness that the Department of Political Studies announces the passing of Professor J.A.W. Gunn, a member of the Department of Political Studies community from 1960-2002 and beyond. Dr. Gunn was a highly regarded professor, department head, and professor emeritus, and was appointed the Sir Edward Peacock Professor of Political Studies in 1995, succeeding his colleague Dr. John Meisel. His last book was published in 2009, When the French Tried to Be British: Party, Opposition, and the Quest for Civil Disagreement 1814 - 1848. The Department of Political Studies extends our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Professor Gunn.
