Tool Overview:

Transcript is a subscription-based ($5/month) plugin for the Chrome browser. While it is marketed as a study aid for students, it effectively is a cheating tool designed to quickly find multiple choice answers, displaying confidence in results in poll style with links to answer sources.

Availability: Asynchronous Browser-based Mobile-friendly

Advantages:

  • The plugin has two means of searching for answers:
  • Unlimited number of web searches (sites like Chegg, Quizlet, Brainly, Wikipedia, or even a Google search) (around 50% accuracy)
  • 500 AI searches included in the base subscription price using AI predictive text (ChatGPT or similar) to generate the answer (around 70% accuracy)

Limitations:

  • Transcript is not able to interpret images or inaccessible text contained within images. This is not recommended as a workaround, however, as it compromises accessibility.
  • Transcript cannot process complex math or semantic structures. The more complicated the question wording, the less accurate the answer.
  • French and Spanish language accuracy was lower than English. Feedback and answer results are provided in the language being searched.
