Title: An Introduction to Planar and Elliptic Curves, part III
Abstract: We will first see a geometric interpretation of the proof by Sander Zwegers for the associativity of the group law on an elliptic curve that we saw last time. After that we will continue following the notes of Professor Yui to lay the ground work required for an understanding of the Riemann-Roch theorem. This will include an assessment of divisors on a curve, the Picard group of a curve and how these are related to the Jacobian variety of a curve. Using these notions we will also be able to show that the previously defined group structure is independent of the identity point chosen(point at infinity vs an inflection point).
