Leonard Dining Hall

Leonard is the largest and newly renovated dining hall on campus.

Enjoy self-serve stations to create your own plate from the salad bar, pizza, stir-fry, grill, plant-based options and more.

Leonard has chefs available to assist with dietary accommodations and to answer any food-related questions. There is something to suit all cravings.

Sustainability Renovated

The recent renovation utilized energy performance modelling in accordance with the Queen’s Design Building Standards, and energy performance targets aligned with the university’s Climate Action Plan

With the installation of a new variable-speed kitchen exhaust with hood sensors, unnecessary ventilation caused when kitchen equipment not in use is reduced by approximately 60%. The sensors determine which cooking stations are in use and limiting the amount of fresh make-up air headed through fossil fuels required.

This new feature will help reduce the overall GHG emissions by around 200 tonnes CO2e/year, equivalent to the emissions of 100 Kingston houses. Major investments such as these in mechanical systems are the key to achieving the targets in Queen’s Climate Action Plan.

Plan Ahead

Planning safe food choices is important for those with allergies, celiac disease, or other food-related health conditions where cross contamination is of concern. These tips will help you dine with ease:

  • Look for wellness icons on menus identifying common dietary needs or preferences (ie. vegan, halal, etc).
  • Before arriving at the dining hall preview today’s menus to assess your options.
  • If you have any questions or require a modification to a dish in the dining hall, call ahead and speak with a chef.
