Former PhD student, Dr. Ali Kara has received the 2022 Cecil Graham Doctoral Dissertation Award from the Canadian Applied and Industrial Mathematics Society. Dr. Kara completed his PhD at Queen’s University in 2021 under the supervision of Professor Serdar Yuksel. The award consists of a prize of $1000, a commemorative plaque and an invitation to speak at the annual meeting in the year of the award. Dr. Kara was presented his award at the June 2022 CAIMS meeting held at UBC Okanagan, where he talked on his results concerning Near-Optimality of Finite Memory Approximations for POMPDPs.
