The annual American Academy of Religion/Society of Biblical Literature Conference was held was held in San Diego, California in November of this year and was well attended by the Queen's University, School of Religion's faculty. There participation covered a variety of activities listed below.

  • Dr. Richard Ascough presented a paper entitled: “On the Intersection of Meals and Ritual in the Roman World”.
  • Matthew Dougherty attended but did not present this year.
  • Dr. Sharday Mosurinjohn presented her paper “The Positive Potential of Misrepresentation in Digital Game Design; Affect, Agency and Meaning-Making”.
  • Dr. M. Shobhana Xavier presented on a panel for the Transnational Religion Expression: Between Asia and North America working group, for which she is also a committee member. Dr. Xavier also was a participant in a mentoring and networking session run about the Islam units, where she started her experience of being on the job market with current graduate students in the field and was also a discussant for the roundtable discussion on “Teaching Islam and Muslim Studies” held by Women of Colour Scholarship, Teaching and Activism AAR units.
