In this workshop, we will discuss thinking about career goals, assessing your existing skills, and considering plans for preparing for the next steps in your career.
The workshop will be mostly discussion based, working through the SGSPA PDP framework.
Prior to the workshop you must complete the initial exercises in the SGSPA PDP Launch Module. This should take roughly 1-2 hours.
- Access the module via the Grad Essentials Resource Hub in OnQ, section 11 on Career Prep - Grad Essentials | School of Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral Affairs (queensu.ca).
- At the bottom of Resource Hub 11: Jump Start Your Career – click on Module 1: Launching Your PDP.
- Complete the entire module up to and including Exercise 1.4 Setting Your Development Goals.
- You do NOT need to complete your actual Annual PD Plan worksheet as your thinking may change after discussion with classmates!
Saving Your Work:
The module gives you the option of working on a Word document to save your answers or working inside the module and then exporting them at the end. Whichever option you choose, make sure you save a copy of your answers and bring them to the workshop for the discussion.
