Delving into Dahlias: A Workshop for Flower Enthusiasts

Dahlias are one of the most sought-after cut flowers in the floral industry today. They are prolific bloomers and come in every size, shape, and colour you can imagine. What many people do not know is that these coveted flowers are surprisingly easy to grow and can be successfully cultivated in a variety of conditions by following a few simple tips and tricks.

During the workshop, participants will learn:

  • How to identify different types of dahlias
  • When to plant and dig up dahlia tubers
  • How to care for dahlias during the growing season
  • Common dahlia pests and diseases
  • Tips and tricks for getting high-quality blooms

You do not need any floral or gardening experience to attend and enjoy the workshop. The workshop is for anyone who loves dahlias and would like to grow their own!

Join Professor Dean Tripp for an engaging presentation on “The Feel Better Strategies that Work.” Professor Tripp will discuss happiness, resiliency, and emotional self-regulation. Dr. Tripp completed his Ph.D. in Clinical Health Psychology at Dalhousie University in 2000, joining the Department of Psychology at Queen's University (Canada) shortly after. He has been cross-appointed with the Departments of Anesthesiology and Urology and has been an internationally recognized researcher in chronic pelvic disease and pain. He has taught courses in Health Psychology, Interpersonal Psychotherapy, and Pain to undergrad, graduate, and medical students/residents. Dr. Tripp has been nominated and awarded the prestigious Frank Knox Teaching Excellence Award at Queen's University and recognized nationally for excellence in health education.
