Peer Appointments

Peer Wellness Coaching

Students can book a free 1-on-1 appointment with a trained Peer Wellness Coach (PWC). Working with a coach will enable you set specific goals in the areas of light physical activity (step), moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (sweat), sedentary time (sit) and/or sleep. Your coach helps empower you to achieve your goals by identifying barriers and developing strategies to overcome them and maintain motivation.

Our Peer Wellness Coaches are guided by the Canadian 24–Hour Movement Guidelines (CSEP, 2020). They are trained in evidence-based health behaviour change models and use a strengths-based, multi-culturally aware lens in supporting you during coaching appointments.

Maria
(she/her)

Hi everyone! My name is Maria Saburov, I use she/her pronouns, and I'm currently entering my fourth year of the Life Science program at Queen's. Since starting my post secondary studies, public health policy quickly became a strong area of interest for me, however recently I have become highly fascinated by reproductive healthcare and plan on pursuing a fourth year project in this field. As the 2021-22 Student Communications Outreach Coordinator, I was able to help with the initial development of the Peer Wellness Coaching program and am really excited to follow it through this summer!

Riley
(she/her)

Hello! My name is Riley and I am going into my fourth year in Health Studies at Queen's University. I have always been interested in health and wellbeing which was further amplified through volunteering and now working in Health Promotion. In my spare time I love to read, play frisbee and squash! I am most excited to work along side the other student staff and learn more about project management and health promotion strategies!

Sadia
(she/her)

Hello! I’m Sadia and I am going into my 3rd Year of Health Sciences program. I am very passionate about both healthcare and journalism and love reading and writing about new topics in the field! I am particularly interested in public health and pharmacology, with emphasis on approaching both fields from an intersectional perspective. I am super excited to work with Student Wellness Services this summer and learn more about data analysis and the process of converting raw data into actionable interventions for promoting health equitably within the Queen's community.

Shreya
(she/her)

My name is Shreya, and I am in my 4th year of Life Sciences SSP. I am passionate about all aspects of health and wellness. I believe all areas are interconnected to one another and how they all positively affect one’s physical and emotional well-being. My favourite activities that help me balance my health and wellness include karate, dance, and practicing yoga! As a member of the student staff team, I am super excited to promote the integration of EDI-related considerations into student mental health and wellness support and services.
