Dr. Dongmei Chen honoured with the Scholarly Distinction in Geography Award

The Department of Geography and Planning congratulates Dr. Dongmei Chen on being awarded the Canadian Association of Geographers (CAG) Award for Scholarly Distinction in Geography.

This award recognizes Dr. Chen’s outstanding internationally recognized research contributions and excellence in teaching and graduate student supervision throughout her career.

Statement Against Racism and Hate

On Thursday, March 7th, 2024, Studies in National and International Development (SNID) hosted a talk by Dr. Thashika Pillay of Queen’s University and Fisseha Gidey Gebremedhin, an incoming PhD student to Queen’s. The seminar, titled "Conceptualizing Tegaru’s experiences of (in)justice through a decolonial onto-epistemology of መኣዲ (meadi),” was cut short after unknown individuals hijacked the question-and-answer period, using malicious language and displaying racist, misogynistic imagery.

Cultivating Critical Pedagogies Panel

The Empowering Others Organizing Committee presents three panelists via Zoom on March 13, 2024, from 12:00 to 1:30 pm (EST).
