Tributes to Professor Emeritus Millard Schumaker

Emeritus Professor Millard Schumaker (1936-2018)

Millard Kent Schumaker, Emeritus Professor of Queen’s Theological and the Department of Religious Studies of Queen’s University, passed away on June 20, 2018.

Born on July 26, 1936 in Genoa, Nebraska, he became a Canadian citizen in 1977. He earned both the A.B (1958) and M.A.

The School of Religion Welcomes Dr. Shobhana Xavier to the Faculty

The School of Religion is delighted to welcome Dr. M.Shobhana Xavier as a member of faculty.

Dr. Xavier has a PhD in Religion and Culture from the joint Wilfrid Laurier U program in Religious Diversity in North America.

Dr. Matthew Dougherty to join the School of Religion as new Baker PostDoc

New Flora Jane Baker Postdoctoral Fellow 

The School of Religion is delighted to welcome Dr. Matthew Dougherty as Flora Jane Baker Postdoctoral Fellow for the period July 1, 2018 to June 30, 2020.

Dr. Dougherty has a PhD in Religious Studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Pamela Dickey Young lectures at Birmingham and Nottingham Universities

Pamela Dickey Young, Acting Director, was appointed as Distinguished Visitor at Aston University in Birmingham, UK in July 2018.  One of her public tasks was to deliver a lecture entitled:  “What’s Religion Got to Do with It? How Young Adults in Canada Make Decisions about ‘Premarital’ Sex.”
