Overview
Beamish-Munro Hall is the home of the Integrated Learning Centre and Smith Engineering.
Location:
Beamish-Munro Hall is located on Union Street near the corner of Division Street. It joins Dupuis Hall to the north and Goodwin Hall from the south.
Entrances:
Main entrance – Located at the south of the building along Division Street, this entrance is accessible with power door openers.
Alternative entrance 1 – Located at the east, accessed through an underpass between Goodwin Hall and Walter Light Hall, and is equipped with power door openers.
Alternative entrance 2 – Dupuis Hall levels 0-2 connect to Beamish levels 1-3. Only Dupuis Hall level 2 is accessible with power door openers.
Alternative entrance 3 – Goodwin Hall level 2 is accessible to Beamish level 2 with power door openers.
Corridors:
There are no doors causing accessibility barriers in the building’s corridors.
Elevators & Lifts:
Elevator(s) – There is a centrally located elevator located in the lobby on the left. It allows access to all floors in the building. The elevator measures 80” by 57” with a door of 42”. It is equipped with braille buttons and an audible announcement system but not with mirrors.
Lift(s) – Lifts are not needed for this building.
Internal ramps:
There is a ramp to provide access to the elevator, as well as a ramp to provide access to first floor classrooms.
Wayfinding:
The building’s sign is located to the left of the main entrance.
Inside the building’s main entrance is a campus and building directory.
Interior signage is positioned at average height eye level with braille along the bottom edge of the sign.
Washrooms:
Located at the north end of the building on each floor are multi-user, men’s and women’s washrooms. All washrooms are accessible and are equipped with power door openers.
Services:
Phones – An assistance phone is located on level 1 in the lobby. Emergency phones are located on levels 2 and 3.
Parking:
Permit parking is available in the parking lot off Clergy Street, the School of Kinesiology parking lot, and the ARC underground parking lot.
Paid street parking is available and has accessible parking spaces at the corner of Union Street and Division Street.
Water Fountain:
There is an accessible water fountain on level 2 and a bottle fill station on the level 1 in the lobby.
