Certificates are a new way to stand out when you graduate. Whether you're a current Queen's student, a future Queen's student, or previous Queen's student, a certificate can help you be competitive in the job market.

How to Apply

Current On-Campus Arts and Science students

If you are already an Arts and Science student attending classes on-campus at Queen’s, are in second year or above, and wish to complete a certificate program in addition to your degree, please email asc.studentservices@queensu.ca with your request. Please note that the Certificate in Academic Writing is not available to on-campus Queen's students.

Current Arts and Science Online students

If you are already an online student at Queen’s in an online degree program and wish to be added into one of the certificate programs, please email asc.online@queensu.ca with your request. Students currently in the Interest Category must complete 18.0 units at a 1.6 cumulative GPA to be eligible to request enrolment in one of the online certificate programs.

Current on-campus Queen's Business, Engineering, and Health Science students

If you are a Queen's student in a faculty other than Arts and Science and wish to complete a certificate program in addition to your degree, please complete this web form with your request.

Part-time, Off-campus, Future Queen's Students

If you aren't a Queen's student (yet) but would like to take the EMPR, MDIA, GAEN, FRPR, AWRI or QEIC-ENIN Certificates, they are available online, part-time through Arts and Science Online. Click here to apply.

Queen's Alumni

If you are a former Queen's undergraduate student, or if you have earned an undergraduate degree from Queen's, please request your Certificate by filling out the Return to Studies Form.

Certificate in Business

Studying Arts and Science but interested in business? The unique Certificate in Business offered by Smith School of Business is an accelerated way to gain a competitive advantage in the job market. You will learn business fundamentals, financial and management accounting, marketing, finance and organizational behaviour while completing your major within Arts and Science.

Please note: With the exception of students who have transferred from another Faculty or School into the Faculty of Arts and Science, a maximum of 6.0 units from courses offered by other Faculties and Schools (including the Smith School of Business) may be counted towards the Program and/or Plan requirements of any degree in the Faculty of Arts and Science.

Studying Arts and Science but interested in Law? This unique Certificate in Law is an accelerated way to gain a competitive advantage in the job market or to access post-secondary studies. You will learn about Canadian Law, Aboriginal Law, Workplace Law, Corporate Law, Public & Constitutional Law, Intellectual Property and International Law in addition to completing your major within Arts and Science.

Queen's Certificate in Law has been designed for Queen's University Arts and Science students as an undergraduate Law program to be offered by the Law Faculty both online and in a blended format on campus.

Please note: With the exception of students who have transferred from another Faculty or School into the Faculty of Arts and Science, a maximum of 6.0 units from courses offered by other Faculties and Schools may be counted towards the Program and/or Plan requirements of any degree in the Faculty of Arts and Science.
