Engineering Wellness on Internship

How to Get Stuff Done When You Don't Feel Like It: Navigating University with ADHD (Therapy Group) - FULL

This group will focus on providing students who have Attention Deficit Disorder (ADHD) with strategies to navigate university. Students do not need to have a formal diagnosis of ADHD to attend this group and can be at any phase of university. Participants will be encouraged to share areas of struggle as well as solutions they have found helpful.  Each week students will discuss a different topic and leave with strategies they can try during the week.

Activating Resilience with ADHD

This group is for students diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) who want practical strategies to stay organized, manage their time, and keep on top of coursework. Students will also gain strategies for studying and test-taking, plus tools to manage stress and emotions.

emPOWERED Up! Weightlifting (Therapy Group)

This professionally facilitated trauma informed resistance training group enables female identified students to access the benefits of resistance training and body based trauma therapy to mitigate symptoms that have been interfering with daily and academic life. This program will involve weekly resistance training sessions coupled with a psychotherapy component. Each week we will work with our bodies and minds to build strength and resilience together.

W26 dates/times: Wednesdays from 10:00-11:30am, Feb 4 to Mar 18 (excluding Feb 18)

Eligibility criteria: Female identified student, with self-identified trauma or adverse childhood experiences (sexual assault, childhood trauma, bullying etc.), and an interest in resistance training and group therapy.

Students who are interested this group will be asked to complete a 10-15 minute survey. This will help ensure this group is a good fit and it is safe to start exercising. Upon completion, students will receive the registration link.

The Campus Observation Room (COR) is our on-site non-medical detox service overseen by Student Wellness Services with the support of trained student volunteers and professional Addiction Support Workers.  It is a voluntary, confidential and a non-judgmental place where students who have had too much to drink can come to sleep.

You can access COR through the south-east entrance of Leonard Hall, near the dining hall (corner of Albert Street and Queen’s Crescent).

Call 613-533-6911 when COR is open for advice on how to help a friend who is intoxicated.
