Josephine Tsang, Ph.D'06 (Chemistry)

Introduction

Fondest Queen's Memory: Having spent my first year conducting research in the historical Gordan Hall while getting to spend the next four years working in the brand new, state-of-the-art Chernoff Hall.

About Josephine: Dr. Josephine Tsang is a testament of the power of science to empower Canadian citizens of all backgrounds. Her captivation with science as a young newcomer has enabled her to become a proud female scientist and researcher, striving continuously to share her passion in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Math) through mentorship and leadership.

At Spark, Josephine’s work has catalyzed the Future City and Future Province initiatives that highlight the critical role of informal education in helping our communities’ transition to sustainable energy systems. Before joining Spark, Josephine was a champion of science literacy in liberal education at Mount Royal University. She has worked in the energy industry, overseeing the development of unconventional oil recovery applications and advocating for innovative practices in the management of fertilizer impacts in soil and groundwater.

Josephine and her husband Dexter Lam are passionate believers and builders of engaged communities. They actively seek and nurture opportunities to increase the capacity of every community that they have been fortunate to be a part of. They eagerly work with Social Venture Partners to help local non-profits build their capacity to thrive and grow their impact. When they are not busy with Queen’s events or at work, you will find them spending time with their three beautiful nieces, traveling or drinking red wine.

Contact Information: Josephine loves to connect with Queen’s Arts & Science students, providing career advice and sharing her experience and journey about mental health.
